Is Luis Gil set to leave for Mexico? That's the latest from American soccer reporter Brian Sciaretta, who reports that a Liga MX team is "stepping up their interest" in the midfielder.
I've heard a Liga Mx club is stepping up their interest for Luis Gil. The US U-23 mid is traveling to Mexico for negotiations this week

Gil is, of course, out of contract at Real Salt Lake and unlikely to have been returning to the club. Interest and rumors in the still-young midfielder have been sparsely reported — and most of that's been by Sciaretta, who is a reliable source.
Real Salt Lake did make a bona fide offer to Gil, which means his rights would remain in Utah should he complete a transfer to another league.
Whatever happens, RSL general manager Craig Waibel is certainly still on the lookout for additional midfielders to bolster a group that struggled for consistency last year.
However, the transfer window isn't yet open, so those moves may have to wait until the January registration window, should any players from overseas join the club.
