The Real Salt Lake Academy system has qualified 2 teams into this year’s Dallas Cup, an international competition that features teams in U13, U14, U15, U16, U17, and U19 groups.
RSL-AZ’s U17/18 team will be making their third appearance at the U19 level. This year, they’ll be playing in the Gordon Jago Super Group (a second group of U19s made up of the elite teams in the Tournament.)
Today, the they learned who they’ll be competing against. They are in Bracket B and facing; Coritiba FC (Brazil), Tigres UANL (Mexico), and Valencia CF (Spain).
Group A is CA River Plate (Argentina), Everton FC (England), Ryutsu-Keizai University FC(Japan), and LA Galaxy Academy (USA). Group C is SC Corinthians (Brazil), CF Monterrey (Mexico), Guangzhou Evergrande Taobao (China), and FC Dallas Academy (USA).
The U15/16s are also competing this year; they’ll be in the U16 tournament. This will be RSL-AZ’s second appearance at this level. They will be facing FC Dallas (USA), Pumas (Mexico), and AC Bilbao (Spain).
All in all, this will be a great opportunity to the up and coming RSL teams to face some good competition and get some international seasoning that’s just not available to most youth players.
