A slew of Real Salt Lake players will be going on loan to Real Monarchs for Saturday's match against LA Galaxy II, RSL Communications confirmed today. Players will be loaned on a game-by-game basis.
That list looks very much as you'd expect — it follows, and we've annotated it with a quick reason why they're on the list.
Lalo Fernandez is the projected Monarchs starting goalkeeper, and it can't come at a better time — he might be on the bench next weekend.
Phanuel Kavita joins because he needs professional experience to be ready for first-team minutes when they should arise.
Aaron Maund goes because he needs time to develop. He has good attributes but is inconsistent in execution.
Boyd Okwuonu doesn't have enough experience in RSL's system to operate at full efficiency as a right back, so getting him minutes is important.
Fito Ovalle is just out of the academy, so he's a bit fresh and raw.
Sebastian Saucedo is extremely talented, but he lacks the physical attributes he needs, as well as experience against bigger players.
John Stertzer is coming off of a broken toe, and this seems like a pretty fast recovery. If he gets minutes and stays healthy, he could be right back on the bench.
Jose Hernandez, an attacking midfielder, will also be joining Real Monarchs this weekend from the RSL-AZ Academy.
