Midfielder Tyler Arnone, University of Michigan grad, signs with Real Monarchs

Rick Osentoski-USA TODAY Sports

Tyler Arnone, a central midfielder who last played at the University of Michigan, has reportedly signed with Real Monarchs, according to a tweet from Arnone's occasional club, NPSL side Detroit City FC.

His performances with University of Michigan saw him named team captain, and that got him noticed enough to make the 2015 MLS SuperDraft Combine. Despite some draft predictions seeing him picked in the second round, he wasn't picked at all in the draft.

Arnone is a US Open Cup goalscorer, notching one against Croatian-American semi-pro side RWB Adria in a loss on penalties.

Monarchs next play on Sunday at 7 p.m. against Portland Timbers 2, so expect a little bit of overlap between that match and Real Salt Lake's match against Toronto FC that evening — and, with five players on international duty for the first-team, an almost-exclusively Monarchs squad to make the start against Portland. Arnone might very well be one of them.
