Rimando gets 45 minutes in USMNT's 1-1 Switzerland draw

Nick Rimando started and played 45 minutes in a United States draw with Panama as the latest FIFA international break came to a close for the Americans.

Through the first half, Rimando was forced into precisely zero saves, zero punches and zero catches. He played 90 minutes in the U.S. preceding match.

After leading through much of the match, the U.S. were put into a difficult man-down scenario when Jozy Altidore was sent off for some very visible vulgarity slung at the referee.

RSL keeper Jeff Attinella's single match in Rimando's internationally enforced stead was impressive, and he might not have to wait long for his next appearance. The U.S. faces Mexico on April 15 (tax day, if you've forgotten) at the Alomodome. While Rimando isn't a guaranteed call-up for that, smart money would see him involved.

It's hard to say if that gives Attinella a starting spot for either April 11 against Sporting KC or April 18 against Vancouver Whitecaps.
