Real Monarchs dropped 1-0 to Colorado Springs Switchbacks in their second home match of 2015 despite being the side largely in control of the entire game.
Monarchs conceded in the 29th minute from a low, driven shot across Lalo Fernandez's goal after being caught on the break from a quick free kick.
That free kick came after Garrett Losee thought he'd scored from a set piece with a flick past Colorado's goalkeepers, but he was flagged with an offside call.
From there on out, Monarchs struggled to — again — find clear cut chances, and with Colorado Springs playing a markedly conservative game, it was difficult to break down play.
Lennon Celestino was substituted with what appeared to be an ankle injury, with that being the only clear injury for Monarchs. Garrett Losee did have a scary moment after a head collision with the Colorado keeper, and Ricardo Velazco pulled up late but soldiered on.
