RSL tie Kansas City on the road

RSL withstood pressure for much of the game to earn a point on the road.

The unfriendly confines of Sporting Park proved just that in the first 45 minutes of the match. Real Salt Lake was under the gun the vast majority of the time and were unable to string together very many passes to give the defense much of a rest. Sporting KC did not do very well with their chances and Elias Vasquez and Jamison Olave played their forwards very tight to take away any space and keep them from having a great look at goal.

RSL had a better showing in the second half with better, smarter passing which provided some relief to the defense. Sporting KC nearly scored but Dom Dwyer got caught offsides after the confetti was already thrown. Salt Lake stayed strong and the defenders looked well to keep Kansas City off the board through the full 90 minutes. RSL earned a point on the road with few shots but an organized defense.
