Jordan Allen called up for US U-20s for first time since season-ending injury

Russ Isabella-USA TODAY Sports

For the first time in a year, Jordan Allen has been called up for international duty, marking his return after a long injury layoff. Allen is one of 20 players called up by US U-20 coach Tab Ramos, joining nine players from MLS teams.

One year ago today, Allen started for the U-20s in a match against a youth team from Mexican club Tigres in the Dallas Cup. It was during that tournament that Allen suffered an injury that led to him having a surgery in May that kept him out for the remainder of the season.

Allen's return has been significant, having already scored his first MLS goal and making his first MLS start this season. He'll leave Sunday for the U-20 camp, leaving him available for Saturday' match against Vancouver Whitecaps.
