Five from RSL called into US youth teams

Russ Isabella-USA TODAY Sports

Real Salt Lake's squad is thinning through international duty once again, and this time, it's an all-American call-up series.

Luis Gil and Boyd Okwuonu have been called in to the U.S. U-23s, and they'll play Mexico on April 22. That match will be broadcast on Univision Deportes and UniMas. That should mean they'll return before the next RSL match.

Jordan Allen, as reported earlier this week, has been called up for the U-20s. That camp runs until Sunday, and they'll play against Qatar (Tuesday) and Croatia (Saturday).

Sebastian Saucedo and Justen Glad have both been called in to the U-18s, but there's no official roster release there yet. No upcoming matches are posted on that roster, either.

With one to three of those absences cutting into the MLS match schedule, it isn't a particularly damaging call-up group. But Allen, Saucedo, and Glad have been trending particularly upward, and Okwuonu has been developing well at the Real Monarchs level. Luis Gil is, of course, a first-team regular, lending him more experience than the average U-23 player.
