Community player ratings: San Jose 0-1 Real Salt Lake

You asked for it, and here it is: your chance to participate in the player ratings process. We want to know what you thought of Real Salt Lake in the 1-0 victory over San Jose.

Of course, rating players is never quite as easy as it looks. You have to keep in mind how every player performs independently and in conjunction with each other. You have to think about the big moments, but also the big moments that didn't happen because of some good defending, some smart movement, or simple retention of the ball.

We're giving you 1-10 (although sometimes I wonder if a simple 'good' or 'bad' rating system might produce similar results — maybe we'll make you the subjects of an experiment(!)), so choose wisely. As much as we'd love to give you complete control, it's 1) not the easiest thing to do, and we want to focus on other coverage, too, and 2) it provides too much temptation to go very, very fine-grained with ratings. It becomes very easy to overthink things.
