Real Monarchs conceded the first goal in the 7th minute, with Lalo Fernandez being caught out at the near post by a Fatawu shot.

Portland were reduced to ten men when Rennico Clarke was shown his second yellow card. This left Monarchs up a man, a position from which they found plenty of possession but few clear cut opportunities.
The match ended in a 1-1 draw, with Monarchs' shape shifting through the match. Lennon Celestino took a few shots from outside the box, and more than a few corners were sent in with a chance coming from that.
Pecka made his first appearance since preseason, but as a second-half substitute. He was originall slated to start but that plan seemed to change during warm ups.
