A familiar face may be on the field Saturday evening as the Portland Timbers 2 visit Rio Tinto Stadium: Former Real Salt Lake midfielder Will Johnson is getting back to game fitness by playing with T2 as he wraps up his recovery from a nasty leg injury last season.
The Monarchs will be looking to make Johnson's return an unpleasant one and even up the USL series Saturday. T2 took the first match 3-2 in Portland in March, and the two teams drew 1-1 in Sandy in mid April.
The Monarchs are coming off a loss in Austin, Texas to the Aztex last weekend, and T2 also fell last weekend to Orange County. The Monarchs will look to start a home winning streak as they won their last home match versus LA Galaxy II.
Max Rauhofer continues to impress as he added another yet another goal last week, and Lucas Baldin also found the back of the net versus Austin.
It seems that T2 has brought the weather with them, as rain will most likely be falling again during the match that kicks off Saturday at 7 p.m. MT.
