The Monarchs hope to keep their momentum going this Sunday after they defeated the Long Island Rough Riders last Wednesday in US Open Cup play. The win gave them their first victory in their inaugural match in the tournament, and the opportunity to advance.
Vancouver is coming off a 2-2 draw with the OKC Energy FC in their last match. Whitecaps 2 find themselves at the bottom of the table only one spot ahead of the Monarchs. They and RMSLC both sit with only 6 points on the season, with Vancouver only ahead of the RMSLC in the table by goal differential. Vancouver only giving up one less goal on the year.
The Monarchs appear to have found their play maker up top, as Max Rauhofer seems to keep himself on the stat sheet. If he is not scoring, he's dishing out assists, as he did last Wednesday helping out on Ricardo Velazco's game winner. They will need more from him up top, to work their way up the table.
The Real Monarchs will take on the Vancouver Whitecaps 2 this Sunday at 3;00 PM MDT. A win against Vancouver could give the lead to a lot of positive vibes going into their next US Open Cup match next Wednesday versus the budding rival Colorado Springs Switchbacks.
