RSL lose 1-0 at L.A.

An early mistake cost RSL on the road.

Jayne Kamin-Oncea-USA TODAY Sports

The first ten minutes of the match were shaky for RSL as they spent the vast majority of the beginning of the game defending deep in their own end. The Galaxy were knocking on the door when Jamison Olave went in on a slide tackle in the box and was successful in getting the ball but had his arm out and the ball clearly deflected off of his outlaying limb resulting in a penalty kick. Junihno took it and was able to convert giving L.A. a 1-0 lead early. Real Salt Lake seemed to wake up shortly after the goal and got the ball in some dangerous areas but did not have much luck beyond that.

In the second half both teams brought out some dangerous weapons. The Galaxy brought on Robbie Keane while in the 54th minute both Joao Plata and Javier Morales came on for Real Salt Lake. Nick Rimando came up with a big save in the 55th minute on a very dangerous cross from the Galaxy and RSL began more of a back and forth affair with L.A. In stoppage time Jamison Olave made another stupid mistake throwing an elbow at Robbie Keane resulting in a red card on the bulky defender.  There were some chances for both teams but no more goals came after the early PK and RSL dropped an egg on the road.
