Real Monarchs head to Sacramento to take on the defending champs

A few weeks ago when Sacramento Republic FC rolled into Rio Tinto Stadium, one would have thought this was not what the Monarchs needed at that point in the season.

RMSLC were searching for a win, and Sac Republic didn't seem like the team to get it against. A nifty deflection by Max Rauhofer, from a Fito Ovalle shot, sent the ball past the Sac Republic keeper, and gave RMSLC the 1-0 victory. Sac Republic will no doubt want revenge vs the monarchs.

The Monarchs are coming off a disappointing 1-0 loss in the Lamar Hunt US Open Cup vs Colorado Springs. Sac Republic come in with a victory in the same tournament 7-3 over Chula Vista FC. Sac Republic's Adnan Gabeljic recorded a hat trick in the match. RMSLC lost 2-1 last weekend at Vancouver White 2.

Sacramento Republic FC plays much better at home than the road, outscoring their opponents 12-3 on their home field this season.

Monarchs will face a tough test Saturday Night, but having played them once this season, that experience should be an advantage to both teams. This match is also included in the Capital Cities Cup, which includes all the teams that reside in their respective states' capital city. Whichever team has the best record versus the other capital cities will win the Cup at the end of the season.
