Glad to make first MLS start, Plata back in RSL XI

Chris Nicoll-USA TODAY Sports

Justen Glad, 18, will make his first MLS appearance today with a start against Vancouver Whitecaps as Jeff Cassar rolled out a lineup that featured a number of surprises — including starts for Sebastian Jaime and Joao Plata.

Glad signed with Real Salt Lake mid-2014 but hadn't made a first-team appearance to date. He had, however, made several appearances with Real Monarchs, playing well during that time.

His first start comes with the resting of Tony Beltran, who has played nearly every minute in 2015 to date, sitting only for seven minutes against Vancouver Whitecaps earlier this year, when the team was grasping for a win after conceding a late goal.

Joao Plata, Sebastian Jaime, and Javier Morales are all making returns to the starting lineup; Plata for the first time this year, and Jaime for the first time since suffering a slight fracture to his tibia.

Of Real Salt Lake's squad, only Lalo Fernandez, Phanuel Kavita, and Sebastian Saucedo remain without starts in 2015.
