Real Salt Lake started the game better than they did against L.A. but it did not hold up for too long as Vancouver ended up dominating much of the half. A few missed opportunities for the Whitecaps left them pounding the ground in anger but eventually their goal would come when Gershon Koffie scored a great goal from distance in the 37th minute that left Nick Rimando wondering what just happend. RSL did not give up and an earned free kick led to a beautiful goal from Javier Moralesthat bent around the wall and in just in side the far post and the teams went into the locker rooms tied up.

Morales had another great chance pretty early in the second half but Kah came up with a last second save to prevent Salt Lake from taking a lead. In the 60th minute, Octavio Rivero had a claer chance to score with a one on one opportunity against Nick Rimando but Rimando made himself big and Rivero wanted that one back. Elias Vasquez got his head on a ball from Morales off of a corner kick that looked destined to go in but Ousted made an impressive stop. RSL had more chances as time pressed on and with 20 minutes left in the game it was all Vancouver with chance after chance. RSL was bending and eventually broke when Elias Vasquez dropped a ball off his chest with Techera ready to pounce and Vancouver took the lead and kept it to win 2-1.
