Rimando, Beckerman called up for USMNT in European friendlies

Russ Isabella-USA TODAY Sports

Nick Rimando and Kyle Beckerman have both been named to Jurgen Klinsmann's 22-man roster for two European away friendlies against Netherlands and Germany, leaving Real Salt Lake in a bind with a potentially tricky match against Colorado Rapids coming up.

The United States play in Amsterdam on June 5 and in Cologne, Germany on June 10. With Salt Lake playing against the Rapids on June 7 at Rio Tinto Stadium, replacements will need to be drafted in for the two.

It may give an opportunity to Lalo Fernandez, who has yet to play for the first team. Jeff Attinella anticipates returning from an ankle injury for that match, but that remains an unknown at this point.

Pecka or John Stertzer, both of whom have seen minutes in the last few matches, are candidates for replacing Beckerman. We'll have more in the coming days on that.
