Player ratings: RSL 2-1 Sounders 2 | Javier Morales excels off the bench

Javier Morales earned the highest rating after coming on as a sub.

Jeff Swinger-USA TODAY Sports

Jeff Attinella - 6.5 Attinella had some impressive saves but more importantly he seemed to be the leader on the field emotionally. He was dealing with a sort of makeshift back line and did pretty well with it.

Demar Phillips - 5.5 Phillips had a few bright moments in the attack but overall was not at his best. His service was predictable but his energy was high.

Aaron Maund - 4.5 Maund lost his mark a few times and was lucky to not be punished for it. As the CB with the most experience on the field, he should have done better.

Justen Glad - 5.5 Glad was good, but not great. He did not have the sharpness that he typically does.

Boyd Okwuonu - 6 Okwuonu looked pretty good in his first start for RSL. He was sharp on the ball and got into the attack as best he could.

Olmes Garcia - 6.5 Garcia was one of the better players on the field once he got his killer instinct going. He had a very nice assist to Plata to get things going and Garcia earned every bit of that stat.

John Stertzer - 5.5 Stertzer was not heavily involved in good or bad parts of the game. Pretty quiet night overall.

Wellington Pecka - 4 Pecka gave the ball away cheaply and looked pretty well discombobulated. In fairness, that was the most minutes he has seen in one showing.

Luis Gil - 5.5 Gil had the opportunity once again to fill in for Javier Morales but the team had little to no creativity for the entire first half. Gil was not a detriment to the team, but he needs to lead the charge when he has these chances.

Devon Sandoval - 6 The man wearing the captain's armband battled and held up the ball well as is to be expected. He did not do too much to create, but nobody really did in the first half.

Joao Plata - 7 This was Plata's real coming back party. He scored a goal and could have had at least one or two more. It seemed like once the Sounders 2 defender got in his face, he turned it on. Let's hope more defenders get on his case.

Phanuel Kavita - 5.5 Kavita came on without really expecting to and stood his ground decently well. He was also part of the disorganization however. With more experience, he'll be a good defender.

Javier Morales - 8 Game changer. Without Morales, nobody watching the game thinks RSL would have pulled that one off. He immediately brought a new urgency to the game and really controlled it for the entire time he was on. Incredible performance.

Alvaro Saborio - N.A
