Monarchs searching for a victory as they host Vancouver Whitecaps 2

The Real Monarchs return to Rio Tinto on Wednesday night to host Vancouver Whitecaps 2 after earning a point on the road against the defending champions, Sacramento Republic FC, with a 1-1 draw.

Max Rauhofer score their only goal on a kick from the spot, after Ricardo Velazco was fouled in the box. The draw brings their record to 1-6-4, which places them at the bottom of the table in the west.

The Vancouver Whitecaps 2 are 3-4-3 on the year, which has them at ninth place in the west. They defeated the Monarchs on May 24 in Vancouver, 2-1.

The Monarchs are beginning to play better together, and will need to rely on their depth more as national team call-ups are not only effecting RSL, but the Monarchs as well, as more RSL players are needed for the with their team, and aren't likely to be sent down to the Monarchs.

A win Wednesday would help a struggling Monarchs team that heads out on three straight road games after this match. The match begins at 7 p.m., and will be broadcast on tape delay at 11 p.m. on KMYU TV.
