Alvaro Saborio is apparently set for a trade to D.C. United in exchange for midfielder Luis Silva, according to a report from Goal USA's Ives Galarcep earlier today.
Those reports were confirmed by Bill Riley at club-owned ESPN 700.
Silva, 26, has made 14 appearances for D.C. United this season, and is nearing his 100th MLS appearance — he's only two games away. Silva has been with D.C. since a midseason trade in
Both Saborio and Silva are in the final years of their MLS contracts. Saborio has been out-of-favor at Real Salt Lake following an incident that caused him to miss a match for the club just before the start of the Gold Cup.
Reports from Costa Rica that he had been removed from a plane for drunkenness were never confirmed by the club, but they did confirm that he had been the subject of team discipline for missing the match.
Saborio had been at Real Salt Lake since 2010 and is the club's all-time leading goalscorer.
