Two of Real Salt Lake's young standout stars, Jordan Allen and Justen Glad, have been named to the roster for the MLS Homegrown Game against Club America's under-20 team.
Their coach? None other than Landon Donovan, whose coaching experience is — shall we say — currently non-existent. But Donovan, who has seemed to cut a little loose since retiring from the playing side, has seemed to name a reasonably solid roster for the match.
Allen has been particularly impress in 2015 for Real Salt Lake after sitting out nearly all of 2014 with a microfracture repair surgery. This year has been a big boost for him as a player, playing 682 minutes across 15 matches and notching a goal and two assists. He also appeared at the 2015 U-20 World Cup with the U.S., where he earned some playing time and was generally impressive.
Glad, 18, hasn't featured quite as heavily, but with RSL's defensive woes — whether because of injury, suspension, or international duty absence — he's started and played nearly every minute in four matches. And on Saturday, he came dangerously close to earning his first professional goal, but his headed shot hit the crossbar.
