Believe it or not, with the ups and downs of the inaugural 2015 season, the Real Monarchs have the opportunity to win a season series tonight in Sacramento.
The Monarchs picked up their first victory versus Sacramento Republic FC 1-0, and have drawn the other two matches 1-1. A win or a draw tonight, and the Monarchs would have the upper hand in the four game series.
The Monarchs sit at the bottom of the table with a 2-13-7 record, while Sacramento are fighting for a playoff spot, with a 10-8-4 record with 34 points. Two points out of the playoffs behind Tulsa and Orange County.
Max Rauhofer leads the team and is third in the league in shots per game at 3.54. Emery Welshman isn't too far behind at 2.54 shots per game; that's good enough for ninth in the league. Rauhofer is sixth in the league for goals per game at 0.54, and Sacramento's Rodrigo Lopez 0.50 goal per game has him ninth.
These two clubs square off Saturday night at 9 p.m. Mountain.
