In just a week's time, Real Monarchs doubled their win count with a fantastic victory over Seattle Sounders 2, winning their second 2-1 game in three days.
Ricardo Velazco opened the scoring for Monarchs with a shot from just inside the box, finishing a ball that rebounded off Seattle's goalkeeper after a great run from Emery Welshman and pass from Sebastian Saucedo.
The second goal was even more outrageous, with Eti Tavares taking a great touch at the midfield stripe that let him burst past the entire Sounders defense. One-on-one with the goalkeeper, Tavares placed his finish between the goalkeeper's legs, with the ball bouncing off the inside of his foot and nestling perfectly in the net.
The win marks the second win in a week, and, more meaningfully, the fourth of the season — meaning the team's doubled their wins in a short time. Although they have already been knocked out of playoff contention, they're now showing distinct signs of life.
