With the fifth pick in the 2016 MLS Draft, Real Salt Lake selected Omar Holness, a Generation Adidas midfielder from North Carolina and a member of the Jamaican National Team.
Holness, 21, was born in Kingston, Jamaica, is a midfielder that some have said is well-suited to a two-way midfield role in RSL's three-man midfield.

Needing backup in the midfield with Luis Gil and Luis Silva departed from the club this offseason, Holness is a reasonable pick.
Generation Adidas players don't count against teams' salary caps — a mechanism MLS uses to incentivize teams giving talented young players additional development time and patience, as well as to bring young players who may have demanded higher contracts.
This comes after trades in the first four picks were traded and confusion sort of ruled the afternoon, with Philadelphia Union and Chicago Fire ending up with the first four picks of the draft.
