With their second-round pick in the 2016 MLS Draft, Real Salt Lake selected left back Max Lachowecki from Notre Dame.
Lachowecki, who was at Notre Dame for five years after redshirting his rookie year, played 22 games, scoring three times and contributing five assists. During 2015, he was one of three team captains.
It's unlikely that Lachowecki will immediately make the jump to Real Salt Lake; as we've seen in the past year, several of our picks ended up at Real Monarchs, where they were given regular minutes.
In 2013, Lachowecki played 90 minutes in Notre Dame's NCAA title win over Maryland, which certainly boosts his resume somewhat. In 2014, Notre Dame lost out in the third round of the College Cup, losing 1-0 to Virginia.
But soccer might not be his end goal — he told the Evansville Courier-Press in August that he has acting aspirations: "I'd love to be on Saturday Night Live one day. That's my dream job."
