Jaime rumors resurge, Waibel denies forward leaving for Chile

Russ Isabella-USA TODAY Sports

Sebastian Jaime isn't on his way out, Real Salt Lake general manager Craig Waibel told ESPN 700 in an interview yesterday.

Jaime, who has been rumored to be departing to Chile with another report cropping up yesterday afternoon, is set to return to Salt Lake City from the offseason shortly.

In that interview, Waibel said that the club is actively planning on Jaime returning to the club, re-iterating his position that the reports out of Chile have been nothing more than rumors.

"Our club is making decisions as we go, and when there's something appropriate for me to talk about, I'll talk about it," he said. "But right now, Jaime is part of our family, and we've been in constant communication with him. He's planning on coming back, and we're planning on being happy to have him."

It's evidence that, once again, it's important to take reports from across the globe with a grain of salt. A move for Jaime looks no closer to the state of things a week ago, and another report was taken at face value.

There's an air of inevitability to that, but just remember: If there's no source — even an anonymous one — there's probably not a lot of reason to put stock into it.
