Nick Rimando - 7 Rimando bailed his defense out on a few occasions creating a nerve-racking highlight reel.
Tony Beltran - 6 Beltran was ready to battle from the beginning of the match but there was a little too much action on his side of the field in the second half.
Justen Glad - 5.5 Glad did well for the vast majority of the game but had an error that could have been very costly were it not for Rimando coming up with a big save. These are the plays that a young player has to experience from time to time.
Chris Schuler - 7 Schuler was my man of the match. He started in a critical game after not seeing consistent minutes in MLS for quite some time and was quite possibly the best player on the field. He imposed his physicality and reminded us that we haven’t had an aerial threat in a long time.
Demar Phillips - 6 Phillips best plays of the night came when he got into the offense. He showed his technical ability against Sporting KC and had his side of the field pretty well locked down.
Kyle Beckerman - 5.5 Beckerman had a relatively quiet game but was in the ref’s ear plenty. He matched KC’s physicality though.
Luke Mulholland - 4.5 Nothing to write home about from Mulholland. He took a couple shots that left us wanting and had a difficult time getting involved outside of his multiple fouls.
Javier Morales - 5.5 Morales had a nice take early on and facilitated possession for much of the game but unfortunately it didn’t translate into goals.
Juan Manuel Martinez - 5 Burrito had a few nice sequences but once again fell out of the action and got too frustrated to be effective.
Joao Plata - 6 Plata was the best attacker on the day for RSL and was in a lot of the right positions to be able to convert. Tim Melia simply got the best of him a few times.
Yura Movsisyan - 5 Movsisyan was fighting for the team and had a couple of chances to score. On his second clear chance, he was directly in front of goal and just took a couple bad touches which let the defenders catch up to the play. It felt like he had the ball about 7 yards out for an eternity.
Substitutes
Olmes Garcia - 6 Olmes came on and was quite effective in his role. He set up Plata a couple times and put RSL in a position to score.
Jordan Allen - 5.5 Allen gave RSL a bit of a new look and did what he could to help the team to try and get a goal. It never came obviously, but Allen contributed.
