It was the kind of start you least expect. Two minutes in, Seattle had some simple build up from out wide and after two back heel passes the Sounders were up a goal in a critical match. Fernandez easily got past Wingert and put it in. RSL turned around and Allen was able to hold the ball up long enough in the box for Mulholland to get on the end of it and put te ball in far post to level things up. There were plenty of fouls going both ways for the next 25 minutes but then Roldan was able to score after Rimando got his paw on a ball but was not able to get it out of the danger zone. The best chance for Real came from Olmes Garcia who headed the ball far post but it went just wide. The half ended with Seattle up a goal.
The second half didn't see much in the way of highlights. RSL had trouble getting the ball into dangerous areas so most of their shots were from distance. Cassar made some subs to inject offense but RSL still had a hard time creating real chances. An uneventful half went goalless and RSL lost 2-1, but still managed to make the playoffs with Vancouver beating Portland.
