Player ratings: Galaxy 3-1 RSL

MLS: Real Salt Lake at LA Galaxy Kelvin Kuo-USA TODAY Sports

Nick Rimando - 5 I can’t say that Rimando had the game where he stands on his head. His defense let him down in the first half, but he didn’t quite close space either.

Justen Glad - 4.5 Glad’s first half was pretty bad, but he recovered well in the second half. Maybe that’s the bright spot of this game, that Glad pushed through a playoff game.

Chris Schuler - 5.5 Schuler wasn’t too bad, was he? He was once again an aerial threat and frustrated the Galaxy attack in the second half.

Chris Wingert - 5.5 Wingert, surprisingly, did pretty well on his side of the field, especially against speed. He also had one of the better shots for RSL in the game.

Demar Phillips - 4 Phillips got burned by Boateng multiple times, we have to be honest about that. He had a great year, and this was not reflective of his season.

Sunny Obayan - 5 Sunny was aggressive, playing with fire even. He gave Beckerman space to roam, but wasn’t as effective in the pass game.

Javier Morales - 5.5 Morales wasn’t creating the magic that we needed from him, but he did draw a penalty to level things early.

Kyle Beckerman - 6 Beckerman was one of the few players that played with some urgency after the game was 3-1. He almost pulled one back, but the crossbar wasn’t kind.

Juan Manuel Martinez - 5.5 Burrito was good in tight spaces and was helping win the ball back for RSL. It was unclear why he was pulled off.

Joao Plata - 6.5 Plata took that penalty beautifully. It was confident, well placed, and hit with pace. He tried to will the team on, but alas, it wasn’t happening.

Olmes Garcia - 4.5 Olmes had a couple of decent passes, but by and large he didn’t have a very positive effect on the match.

Substitutes

Yura Movsisyan - 6 Yura nearly had a bicycle goal with a bum foot. He wasn’t as effective as we would hope, but he gave what he had.

Jordan Allen - 5 Allen didn’t seem to have much urgency in his play, but he did provide a bit of a look forward.

Luke Mulholland - 5 It seems like Mulholland couldn’t get his shots off quick enough when he had some space. A bit frustrating.
