Real Salt Lake made a roster announcement this afternoon, stating that they’d declined options on several players and picked up options on several more.

Before any fear, uncertainty or doubt, remember that a declined option does not mean the player cannot or will not return, but that a new contract would need to be negotiated.

Declined options include Boyd Okwuonu, Phanuel Kavita, John Stertzer, Emery Welshman, and Olmes Garcia. Both Javier Morales and Jamison Olave, who have already announced their departures from the club, were declined as well.

Options were picked up for Lalo Fernandez, Chris Schuler, Demar Phillips, Justen Glad, and Ricardo Velazco.

Three players are otherwise out of contract: Aaron Maund, Chris Wingert, and Devon Sandoval. Contract discussions with Maund that would see him return have already been in progress.

The press release notes that the following players remained under contract:

Goalkeepers Nick Rimando and Jeff Attinella; defenders Tony Beltran and Danilo Acosta; midfielders Kyle Beckerman, Luke Mulholland, Sunny and Omar Holness; and forwards Juan Manuel Martinez, Joao Plata, Yura Movsisyan and Jordan Allen.
