Silly season is in full force, and the latest rumor from “across the pond” has Real Salt Lake targeting former Manchester City youth product Albert Rusnak, currently playing at FC Groningen — but facing stiff competition from Premier League side Swansea, according to ... The Sun.
Yeah, The Sun. So take this one with a pretty big grain of salt, because they’re one of the leading purveyors of made-up transfer rumors in England.
Given that little bit of information, this is little more than just a rumor at this point, but it’s something to gnaw on while we wait for real transfer news. Is Rusnak the real deal, or is this agent hype coming out? We’re definitely leaning toward the latter.
But is Rusnak the sort of player we’re looking for? RSL general manager Craig Waibel has said we’re looking in the Netherlands at a player, and Rusnak ticks that box. He’s also right around the age range we’re apparently looking at — he’s 22 and not 23, though. He’s also apparently a tidy attacking midfielder, and we certainly could use one of those.
We’ll keep an eye on this one, but don’t be surprised if there’s absolutely nothing to it.
