Player ratings: RSL 1-1 Tigres

Russ Isabella-USA TODAY Sports

Nick Rimamdo - 6.5 Rimando only had to deal with one shot on goal and unfortunately it came when RSL was down a defender and resulted in a dagger goal. His distribution on the night was great and he should be given a lot of credit for the first pass that led to the Plata goal.

Chris Wingert - 6 Let's be clear. Wingert came into this match being outmatched as far as speed and technical skill go. Containing Jürgen Damm is a tough task but Wingert's veteran prudence served him well and he did an impressive job keeping him quiet. Welcome back.

Aaron Maund - 6.5 is there any question that Maund is our best CB? He is now consistently good and proved that he can keep one of the best teams in the region from threatening much. Nice night.

Jamison Olave - 5 Olave had some shaky moments and coughed up the ball in some dangerous spots, but deserves credit for coming back from a poor performance in Monterrey.

Tony Beltran - 5.5 Beltran had a relatively quiet night but for defenders, that's not a denunciation. He showed himself to be confident and was not afraid of anyone. His ball control and ability to win the ball was not what we are used to, but it wasn't a bad game at all.

Kyle Beckerman - 6 Beckerman was committed to the cause and put in more than a full night of work. He did what he does best and that is to break things up going against him and then find the right guy going forward.

Sunny Obayan - 7.5 Sunny was the man of the match in my book. He had an unbelievable motor and looked like one of the best players on the field. What an acquisition he might turn out to be. He won balls when it looked impossible and has some lightning fast feet. Like Cassar said post game, "Sunny and Kyle ran their...brains out."

Javier Morales - 5 Morales didn't have the standout game he is capable of. His corners were not finding the intended targets and we all know how his penalty turned out. Guzman saw the stutter step coming and it didn't work on him. That take would have changed everything had it gone in.

Burrito Martinez - 7.5 Martinez looked like a man among boys for much of the night with his skill on the ball and ability to find space when he looked trapped. His partnership with Javi and the forwards is going to be fun to watch all year long.

Yura Movsisyan - 7 Yura was all over the place and deserves a ton of merit for leading the team, inciting the crowd, and for playing well on both sides of the ball. His assist to Plata was magical and he was an inch away from tying the game up.

Joao Plata - 7 Plata had the lone goal for RSL and it came when it needed to. He was in good spots for much of the night and caused problems for the Tigres back line.
