It took only five minutes for a bit of controversy to surround Real Salt Lake and LA Galaxy in Carson, California.
Tony Beltran was whistled for a penalty against Giovani dos Santos in the 5th minute — a weak shove, at best, but dos Santos went down well enough to draw that penalty call.
If you had to predict what happened next, you'd probably be right.
Steven Gerrard — you know, the famous one — stepped up to the spot and tamely put his spot kick to Nick Rimando's right side. Nick Rimando saved it.

That wasn't the only terrifying moment of the match — only five minutes later, Aaron Maund lost out on a challenge with dos Santos in the box (indicating he is, in fact, quite capable of staying upright when he feels it best suits him), then nearly beat Rimando. He — and Real Salt Lake — were kept knotted at 0-0.
