Finding the best in a not so good game: Yura Movsisyan

MLS: Houston Dynamo at Real Salt Lake Jeff Swinger-USA TODAY Sports

Real Salt Lake was handed their 2nd loss in as many weeks. The chances were there but, like last week, the finishing touch was not there. The possession was pretty even in the first half but, Houston looked the better team in the 2nd half. With all that, the player who had the biggest difference was Yura Movsisyan.

Now, before you think I've gone crazy there is a reason why I picked Movsisyan. Despite missing that clear opportunity created by a pass over the top, he was still in almost every goal scoring opportunity. He was earning free kicks by holding up the defender and then the foul was made, giving Javier Morales the chances on free kicks. He was also able to hold the ball out wide several times and make cutting passes back to the top of the goal box to the runs coming in from the midfield.

He is also able to flirt with the back line and break away from the defense. His individual marking on defensive set pieces was great because he was able to take his man out of the equation. He was able to come out wide and help hold the ball, which you could very clearly see with the last good opportunity RSL had to level the game when he made a pass to Olmes Garcia inside the 6 yard box.

RSL has to start putting the ball into the back of the net and start creation more chances out of the midfield rather than try and create the chances in the final third, with the defense anchoring in crowding the middle. There has to be more continuity and we all have noticed the disconnect from the team.

They have to shake yet another loss as they continue this road game stretch as the take on another heated rival, Sporting KC. RSL not only has to shake this game off but learn to to play as a team again as they get ready to play next Saturday.
