Kyle Beckerman has been called in to Jurgen Klinsmann's 23-man United States squad for the 2016 Copa America. Nick Rimando, however, was left out — a rarity in the Klinsmann era, and perhaps spelling an end to Rimando's national team tenure.
It's not immediately clear how much time Beckerman will miss while on international duty, but there hasn't been any indication that he'll miss tonight's match against Sporting Kansas City. The U.S. does play Puerto Rico tomorrow.
If the U.S. makes the Copa America final on June 26 — a definite long shot, but something we'll be rooting for — Beckerman could miss up to six matches; he'll definitely miss matches against Columbus Crew (May 28), New York City FC (June 2), a U.S. Open Cup match (June 14), Portland Timbers (June 18), New York Red Bulls (June 22), and FC Dallas (June 25). If the U.S. doesn't make it past the group stage, he may miss only two, returning against Portland Timbers.
Additionally, both Demar Phillips and Omar Holness were not called in to Jamaica's final roster, despite making preliminary rosters.
