Player ratings: RSL 2-1 NYRB

There were a lot of great second half performances against NYRB.

MLS: New York Red Bulls at Real Salt Lake Jeff Swinger-USA TODAY Sports

Nick Rimando - 6 Nick Rimando didn’t have a whole lot thrown his way. When he did, he was alert and only one goal got past him which he couldn’t do much to stop.

Tony Beltran - 7.5 Beltran was fantastic on the night. He was the best defender if not the best player on the field. He also set up Jordan Allen nicely on the game-winner.

Justen Glad - 6 Glad is learning every game and getting better every game. Coming off a decent to good showing against Adi, he came into this match confident and ready to win. Against the Red Bulls, he was solid.

Aaron Maund - 6.5 Maund was very good with some timely clean-ups in some dangerous breakaway situations.

Demar Phillips - 6 Phillips definitely brings a different look compared to Wingert. Phillips’s strengths of speed and aggressive play were on full display.

Luke Mulholland - 5 Mulholland gave the ball away cheaply a few times, but the bigger issue is that he was not really involved for much of the night. That said, he hunkered on defense to prevent too much from happening when New York wanted to breakaway.

Javier Morales - 6 Morales was not able to do what he would have liked when he had a chance to score or make that final pass, but he was weaving in and out a lot to try and break down the stubborn New York defense.

Sunny Obayan - N/A Sunny went down pretty early with a head injury.

Juan Manuel Martinez - 6 Burrito did not look as dominant as one would expect against a second string lineup. He had flashes of it, but more often than not was unable to break through.

Joao Plata - 5.5 Plata gave New York a few problems, but was not as effective after they hunkered down after going up 1-0 early.

Yura Movsisyan - 7.5 Movsisyan was very determined to get the full three points and was one of the catalysts that did not let RSL give up. His header goal was more than fair for the effort he put in.

Substitutes

Jordan Allen - 7.5 Allen came on with about a half hour to play and did everything one would hope from him. He brought offensive energy and came up with the game-winner off a deflection.

John Stertzer - 7 Stertzer had one of his best games in a RSL uniform. He played his role very well and broke up a lot of plays. He also set up Yura perfectly to tie the match.

Olmes Garcia - N/A
