WATCH: Plata, Morales put RSL up 2-1 on Philadelphia Union

MLS: Real Salt Lake at Philadelphia Union Bill Streicher-USA TODAY Sports

Real Salt Lake may not be able to keep a clean sheet in MLS, but tonight’s match against Philadelphia Union has featured at least one notable positive: Joao Plata scored a goal.

It was the wizard’s (timely, no?) first goal in two months, and it was a spectacular one, too. It’s a beautiful little curler from the edge of the box led on by arguably one of Real Salt Lake’s best players of the last two months, Demar Phillips.

It’s Plata’s sixth MLS goal of the season and Demar Phillips’ third assist of 2016.

Plata will be relieved to have scored one, but perhaps half as relieved as veteran Javier Morales, who scored just after Plata’s beauty. Why don’t we watch that one, too?

While you can’t really see much leading up to this, Morales can give a lot of credit to Olmes Garcia, who kept possession and drew players out of position.

Real Salt Lake, as of this writing, leads 2-1 and could be in line for their first win in too many games. We’ll see.
