RSL lose 2-1 to Sounders

MLS: Real Salt Lake at Seattle Sounders FC Jennifer Buchanan-USA TODAY Sports

RSL had a handful of shots from distance over the course of the first 20 to 25 minutes but Seattle was the more dangerous aggressor. Seattle godsend Nicolas Lodeiro drew a lot of the attention from RSL's defense but was still able to get the best of them in the 25th minute without one-touch goal to put Seattle ahead. That with about five RSL jerseys in the vicinity. From that point for the rest of the half Salt Lake was on its heels and Lodeiro struck again, this time with an assist to Jordan Morris who headed in the Sounders’ second goal. Salt Lake was lucky not to find themselves down three goals after the first half with Seattle squandering some chances.

Yura Movsisyan came on and injected some energy into the team and chances came in bunches for both teams. Out of nowhere, Movsisyan hustled Stefan Frei who rolled the ball right into Yura’s foot and RSL were able to cut the lead in half when Joao Plata tapped the ball in in the 63rd minute. RSL gained the momentum but in the 80th minute Crisitan Roldan won a penalty with Justen Glad getting his foot in the way. Clint Dempsey went face to face with Nick Rimando and when Dempsey went for power, he hit the lower part of the crossbar and missed the attempt. The rest of the game saw some hard tackles and good looks but the game ended 2-1 for Seattle.
