Real Salt Lake’s latest signing, Pedro Baez, will be making his debut tonight, Jeff Cassar told ESPN 700 in an interview on Tuesday.

Baez, a young forward from Paraguay, joined RSL on loan until the end of the season, and he’s recently completed all the paperwork and visa requirements needed to take part.

As a means of first-team evaluation, he’ll play tonight for Real Monarchs. In his interview, Cassar told Bill Riley that Baez would be playing somewhere around 30 minutes in the match against Timbers 2.

What exactly that means for Baez’s chances in playing on Saturday remains to be seen, as clearly, he hasn’t had much time to integrate with the first team.

Further complicating matters is the fact that Olmes Garcia has started to show considerable improvement in the central-most forward spot after playing for the injured Yura Movsisyan.

This perhaps adds some haze to the next steps integrating Baez — will he be able to displace Garcia, or will the team find some other way to give him minutes at all? These questions should become more clear in the following weeks.
