MLS: FC Dallas at Real Salt Lake Russ Isabella-USA TODAY Sports

Both Real Salt Lake and FC Dallas came into this game with clear intent to push the issue and get the full three points. RSL had some pretty good looks in the box but close doesn't count in soccer. Dallas’ high pressure high intensity defense was proving quite a challenge and the game was begging for a breakthrough. Jamison Olave and Yura Movsisyan had some headers that came up just short. Joao Plata had a ball destined for goal that ended up skimming the outside of the net when Dallas got just enough on it to deflect it a few degrees.

Within the first ten minutes of the second half Nick Rimando had to come up big a few times to prevent Dallas from getting on the board. Around the 60th minute Dallas started to feel the real possibility of a road point and they began to sit back and crowd the box. RSL didn't give up and in the 79th Olave was able to chest down a ball and kick the ball around the defender in front of him to place the ball perfectly in the top right corner. The crowd exploded. RSL buckled down the rest of the match and won 1-0 to earn a big three points.
