Things got off to an unfortunate start for Real when five minutes in the Rapids were able to zig zag the defense to confuse them a bit. They got a good shot off which Nick Rimando was able to save but Gashi beat the defenders to the ball and put in the rebound. As has been custom this season, RSL didn't hang their heads and Burrito in particular was slicing and dicing to create chances. It paid off in the 38th minute when he found a streaking Demar Phillips whomcut it back at the end line and found Yura Movsisyan who slotted it in to tie the game. The first half would end 1-1.
Things got off to a quick start in the second half as well when Joao Plata found Movsisyan at the top of the box who, with two defenders on him, switched feet and blasted the ball to the top right corner with his left. Not long after, Yura was taken down in the box and awarded a penalty but when he stepped up to take it he missed wide left even when Tim Howard went the other way. With about ten minutes remaining, the ref pointed to the spot again. This time Javier Morales stepped up and Howard saved it. RSL fans were forced to be on edge the rest of the game. RSL played smart the rest of the way and RSL won 2-1.
