Chris Schuler handed first start since July 2015

MLS: 2016 Portraits-Real Salt Lake USA TODAY Sports

If you feel like it’s been a while since you saw Chris Schuler start for Real Salt Lake, you’re right.

It’s been nearly 14 months since he last saw the field from the outset, starting in a 1-3 loss to Colorado Rapids on July 11. And before that? April 5, 2015.

In case you needed a reminder, it’s been a while since we’ve seen him in an RSL shirt. He’s been close, obviously, having started plenty of times for Real Monarchs after signing with them earlier this year.

He signed for Real Salt Lake only a few scant weeks ago, and it’s with a certain amount of bad luck that he’s coming to start already. That’s not to say he wasn’t in contention, but it took a suspension and an injury to get him that first start in his second stint.

He’ll start alongside Justen Glad, who has been a very welcome starter at the club. In other news, Sunny is making his return to first-team action since suffering facial fractures nearly three months ago.
