Player ratings: Portland 1-0 RSL

MLS: Real Salt Lake at Portland Timbers Troy Wayrynen-USA TODAY Sports

Nick Rimando - 6.5 Outside of the early Timbers goal, Rimando was pretty sharp. He had some very quick-minded saves to keep RSL in the game.

Chris Wingert - 5 Wingert wasn’t spectacular nor did he have a negative effect on the game. He got beat by speed a few times but was generally in the right spots.

Justen Glad - 5.5 Glad seems to struggle against Adi and the Timbers. He looked better against Portland this time than last, but doesn’t have the meat on his bones to match Adi’s physicality.

Chris Schuler - 4.5 Schuler had a decent return to MLS but made some poor decisions in the back of the field that were it not for Rimando would have put RSL in an insurmountable deficit.

Demar Phillips - 6 Demar was up for pretty much everything Portland threw at him and defended well all night.

Sunny Obayan - 5.5 Sunny had a decent game for not having played MLS minutes for a few months. His sharpness isn’t quite there, but his scrappy play is.

Jordan Allen - 4 This was not Allen’s night. He seemed to be out of sync with his teammates and wasn’t quite there with his passes.

Kyle Beckerman - 6 Beckerman took a few shots from outside the box but was unable to put them in the spots he would have liked.

Juan Manuel Martinez - 6.5 Burrito was one of the few players successful at creating looks at goal for RSL.

Joao Plata - 5.5 Plata had a frustrating night with a couple of half chances but not enough touches on the ball to get in a rhythm.

Yura Movsisyan - 6 Movsisyan earned a set piece or two for RSL but couldn’t test the keeper when he had his chances.

Substitutes

Javier Morales - 5.5 Javi brought a bit of possession for RSL but did not have the creative night we are used to.

Luke Mulholland - 5 We didn’t see too much from Mulholland as a sub, but he did enough on defense to help RSL get forward.
