Nick Rimando - 6 Nick Rimando made the type of save towards the end of the game that gives you some hope. I know I thought Will Bruin had the goal in the bag, but Nick Rimando had other plans.

Tony Beltran - 6 Tony was probably RSL’s best player on the field on the night. He was one of the few that did not look resigned to the way the night was going.

Justen Glad - 5.5 Glad’s partnership with Olave is taking effect. Houston didn’t have many chances outside of the RSL error and Glad was not involved in that one. His recovery runs catch you off guard.

Jamison Olave - 5 Olave made a questionable pass to Stertzer which led to a goal, but it was questionable, not outright faulty. Besides that, Olave made some really good plays to keep Houston from threatening much.

Demar Phillips - 5 This was not the night we have come to expect from Phillips. He didn’t play poorly, he just didn’t have an overly impressive night.

Luke Mulholland - 4.5 Mulholland got the starting role in Javi’s normal position and I didn’t think he took the opportunity by the reins. He made a fantastic pass early in the game to set up Movsisyan on the run, but outside of that there wasn’t much happening.

John Stertzer - 3 Stertzer gave the ball up cheaply and tried to draw a foul in a horrible position. As we all know, that led to the Houston goal and the RSL loss. Besides that play, Sterzer was not making much of his starting role. His normal gritty play didn’t really pan out.

Kyle Beckerman - 4.5 It pains me to rate Beckerman this low, but the truth is his shots were way off and he wasn’t having his normal game breaking up plays or making incredible passes going forward either.

Juan Manuel Martinez - 4 Burrito had a few moments of brilliance but a lot of disconnected passes as well. He had probably the clearest opportunity to score for RSL with nobody within his vicinity but headed it high.

Joao Plata - 4 Plata was really nowhere to be found on the night. He didn’t step up like he normally does to make something happen for the team. In fairness, the service to him simply wasn’t there.

Yura Movsisyan - 4.5 Yura was trying to make the chances come and will the team to a result, but you can only concede the first goal so many times. Yura had a couple decent looks that he could have done better with to put RSL on the board.

Substitutes

Jordan Allen - 5 Allen had plenty of time to get the team pushing forward and he did that to an extent but still doesn’t look as sharp as he was a couple months ago.

Olmes Garcia - 3.5 Garcia came on with a mission to create and/or score a goal but was too zealous. He took shots with next to no probability of having a chance and gave the ball away cheaply a lot for the few minutes he had.
