Dallas made things hard for RSL from the get go with quick turnaround play and a very tight, organized defense. The looks for Salt Lake were coming but the passes weren't quite there. The best chance for Real came in the 29th when Kyle Beckerman laid off a perfectly weighted ball for Demar Phillips who definitely tested the keeper and woke up the crowd. Dallas was impenetrable for the first half though and they headed in to regroup tied at zero.
No subs at the half, things looked much the same as the first 45. RSL got half looks, but not many clear chances. Mulholland had a shot from outside the box in the 60th but shot wide. The impatience was building. Within about three minutes both Allen and Garcia had shots and Garcia left us wanting with a clear look at goal. For Dallas, Acosta was running to the ball at the top of the box with a clear lane but whiffed it. RSL couldn't break through and the game ended nil-nil.
