Lineup news
- Aaron Maund is out with a broken toe, which, well, truly stinks.
- Kyle Beckerman is available? Unavailable? That’s a big question that we simply don’t know the answer to yet. He’s eligible to play, and he could be compelled to play under MLS CBA rules (not that I think we’d even think about that) because it’s been more than 24 hours since he last played a match. And the last match was even stateside, so don’t be surprised if he starts.
- Sunny? Well, he’s now played 150 minutes for Real Monarchs, and while he looked a little rusty in the process, he’s a good option with the captain doubtful. More on that in our “Quotable Quotes” section, with apologies to Reader’s Digest.
Predicted lineup
RSL XI: Rimando; Beltran, Olave, Glad, Phillips; Beckerman, Mulholland, Morales; Martinez, Movsisyan, Plata
Quotable quotes
Jeff Cassar, on ESPN700, on whether Sunny might be in contention to play:
“I think his fitness is level is right where it needs to be. I still think we probably need to get him up to MLS game speed ... but he’s right there knocking on the door.”
