Real Salt Lake’s youth movement? That could be in for a real boost. The Salt Lake Tribune’s RSL beat writer (and all around great source) Chris Kamrani is reporting that the club is interested in bringing Brooks Lennon back to the United States.
Brooks Lennon, a wide attacking player that scores goals.
UPDATE: Matt Doyle, MLS Analyst, confirms the interest and says RSL is close.
RSL close to signing Brooks Lennon from Liverpool. Lines up with what I've heard as well.https://t.co/0vHZyFYXLC

He’s an RSL-AZ academy graduate who went on to sign with Liverpool FC — he’s even been scoring goals regularly for their U-23s. He’s easily a top-five player the academy has produced, and they haven’t been slouching. He’s attracting attention with excellent performances at a prominent academy in Europe. He scored twice yesterday for the U-23s.
First, props need to go to Kamrani for uncovering this. He cites a league source, and he’s typically been impeccable with his coverage. He’s one of only a handful of newspaper beat writers around MLS, and he does a bang-up job of it.
If Lennon does return to Real Salt Lake, it would be a real coup for the club. Obviously, it’s too early to really get excited about this one, but a little pre-emptive excitement never hurt anyone, right? Right? Good.
