With two months until the season starts, Real Monarchs’ 2017 schedule was released today.
And wouldn’t you just know it, but most of the dates on the schedule overlap with a Real Salt Lake match, which may test the patience of some trying to follow both sides.
Monarchs start the season visiting Portland Timbers in a match against their second-division side; their home opener comes against rebranded Phoenix Rising FC.

Schedule notes
- Real Monarchs will face Portland Timbers 2, Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC, Phoenix Rising FC, and Reno 1868 FC three times — Phoenix and Portland twice on road, Reno and Colorado Springs twice at home.
- Home game against OKC Energy on July 5 and Seattle Sounders 2 on July 8
- Home game against San Antonio FC on September 2
- Away for memorial day weekend
- Away Saturday before the 4th
- Away on July 22 and July 26 in Texas swing
- No road trip or home stand over two games in length
Monarchs roster
A handful of Real Monarchs players have been involved with RSL’s preseason preparations, with Daniel Haber, Chandler Hoffman, and Nick Besler earning minutes in RSL’s exhibition against New York Red Bulls today.
Further, it seems Emery Welshman may be in contention for a Real Monarchs contract, joining the club in preseason. He was on the bench for today’s match against New York.
