That move for Landon Donovan that Real Salt Lake’s been mooting? It’s not dead yet.
RSL general manager Craig Waibel told ESPN 700’s Bill Riley today that he’s still in conversations with the former LA Galaxy star — so if you thought that maybe the Albert Rusnak deal (all but confirmed now) was somehow going to displace this one, you might want to think again.
Waibel tells @ESPN700 that conversations continue between #RSL and Landon Donovan, but nothing is imminent now.

Would Donovan be a good fit at Real Salt Lake? That’s obviously hard to say without, you know, seeing it, but given the moves the team has made otherwise, it’s hard to get too up-in-arms about this one.
After all, Donovan brings a wealth of MLS experience, and that’s something the team could really be lacking outside of a few key players — and we’ve certainly seen that the teams that tend to do well have those players that know the league. That doesn’t, of course, mean that Donovan is the answer, but it does provide a little something.
We’ll keep our eye on this one.
